Greenwood Utilities - Your Public Utility Company

Backflow Prevention Policy

In accordance with the Federal and State Drinking Water Acts, and in conformance with the Mississippi State Board of Health Environmental Regulations, the Greenwood Utilities Commission has adopted and approved a cross-connection control policy on November 18, 1999, and will implement the cross-connection program accordingly.  It is the objective of Greenwood Utilities Commission to provide the safest and highest quality water to its customers at all times.

All new commercial accounts will be surveyed to access the possibility of a cross-connection.  If it is determined that the account requires a backflow assembly, the initial certified inspection will be conducted by Greenwood Utilities at no charge.  All subsequent inspections will be conducted annually at the customer's expense.  A list of certified inspectors can be obtained from the main office of Greenwood Utilities.
